Grace J. Bergen is a business lawyer with over 30 years of experience in transactions and litigation involving business, employment, intellectual property and technology, real estate, and construction law.  Ms. Bergen provides her clients with trusted advice on corporate governance, employment practices, compliance with California and federal laws and regulations, and best risk management practices.

Ms. Bergen works closely with her clients to find economical solutions to problems that arise in their day to day businesses, and she provides preventative legal advice to new and growing businesses so that they will flourish free from legal problems.  She is adept at negotiating and preparing a wide variety of business contracts, licensing agreements, web-site agreements, manufacturing and vendor agreements, leases, and various corporate documents and policies.


Ms. Bergen also performs selected litigation involving business disputes, infringement of intellectual property rights, and breaches of contracts, and assists clients with licensing problems and issues involving government agencies. She is experienced in all aspects of employment law, from hiring to termination; and assists clients with wage and hour claims, wrongful termination litigation, and preparation of employee policies and handbooks.

Professional Memberships

Currently a member of the state board of California Lawyers for the Arts, Ms. Bergen also serves on its referral and mediation panel. She is also a member of California Women Lawyers and Women Lawyers of Sacramento, and served on board of Women Lawyers of Sacramento from 1994 through 2004, when she was elected the President. From 1997-1999, Ms. Bergen was a Director and the President of the Sacramento Chapter of the American Corporate Counsel Association. She also served on the State Bar Committee for Women in the Law from 2005-2007, and was the founding member of the Sacramento No Glass Ceiling Initiative in 2006.
